==Immigration from Taiwan== Chungsen (C. S.) Leung was born in Taiwan and pursued his secondary education in Japan. As the international community gradually recognized the mainland People's Republic of China in the 1960s, he feared that he could become stateless as a person born in Taiwan. Thus, when the opportunity presented itself, he came to Canada to pursue his university education at Ottawa's Carleton University and adopted Canada as his new home. After spending eight years in Canada as an international student and as a landed immigrant, he became a citizen of Canada. He met his wife while studying in Canada.
