Garrard was born in Toronto and earned a bachelor degree in Nuclear medicine (University of Toronto) prior to earning an MBA in Marketing and Strategy at York University. She is currently working on a Creative Writing certificate from Ryerson University. For the [http://www.asiancanadianwriters.ca/ Asian Canadian Writers' Workshop] she works as a Festival Coordinator for the annual [https://literasian.com/toronto/ LiterASIAN Toronto], an extension of the existing LiterASIAN festival in Vancouver which celebrates the best in Asian Canadian arts. She organizes many events for writers and editors on behalf of both the Canadian Authors Association and Asian Canadian Writers' Workshop.
