She also uses dance as a healing and thereapeutique tool, in combination with the ancient techniques of Yoga & Meditation, dating back to the Tantric tradition of Dance/Yoga practices. Trained in India in Classical, folk, gypsy & modern Indian dance traditions, a transmission which has been passed down from generation to generation, Amrita travels internationally teaching workshops, offering performances & lectures in the field of Dance & Yoga-Dance. She has also appeared in various Television and Radio shows in Norht America, Europe, India & in South America. Amrita’s primary interest is to use dance as a tool to bring awareness to various political, socio-cultural & spiritual aspects of life. She has performed extensive research into the ancient temple dancers of East India & the vanishing Rajasthani Gypsy dance cultures. Amrita was educated in Tagore's ashram in Santiniketan India, where an intimate relationship with mother nature, respect for the environment, and living in harmony with all that surrounds us, was of importance in the everyday educational model.
