Melinda Shankar is a Canadian actress who is best known for playing Alli Bhandari beginning in season 8 of Degrassi: The Next Generation and Indira 'Indie' Mehta on How To Be Indie.
She started her acting career at age 10 appearing in TV commercials, print ads and some theatre work.
Shankar plays Alli Bhandari in Degrassi. She also stars in a television series on YTV called How To Be Indie. She plays the role of Indira. She co-starred in Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars, as a Disney Channel Original Movie alongside Jennifer Stone as Janie Gibbs, Harriet's best friend. She was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada. Shankar currently resides in Toronto, Canada. She has three siblings: Melissa, Melanie, and Michael Shankar.
