In the Faculty of Criminology, Justice and Policy Studies (FCJPS), she taught classroom tutorials to 3 classes of 35 students each in a Television course. Lian also taught classroom tutorials to 2 classes of 30 each to first year students in Technical Communication (business and engineering students) in the Faculty of Education.

As a Teaching Assistant: Marking in the Faculty of Business and Information Technology, Lian was responsible for two semester of Cybercrime. In FSSH, she was engaged in Intercultural Communication. She also was a Teaching Assistant in Business Communication and Human Development in Communication, FCJPS.

Lian Chan has worked as a Tutor in the After - 4 Program at Woodgreen Community Centre, Toronto and the Leading To Read Program at the Toronto Public Library, Pape/Danforth.

As an ESL teacher at Hsin Dong Junior School, Hsin-ying, Tainan County, Taiwan, she taught Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced levels of Conversational English in the 7th, 8th and 9th grades.

Chan also taught ESL in Seattle at the Secondary Bilingual Orientation Center and the Asian Counseling and Referral Services and the Chinese Information and Service Center.
