Fred Cheng is a Canadian-born Hong Kong actor and singer. Having starred in a number of television dramas in Hong Kong, Cheng first rose to fame after competing in the 2013 Hong Kong singing competition, The Voice of the Stars, subsequently winning first place. Born in Vancouver, Canada, Cheng studied at Eric Hamber Secondary school and lived with his mother, older sister, and younger brother. From his uncle's influence, at an early age Cheng developed a passion for music, singing, and playing the guitar, which led to his mother encouraging the young man to compete in theTVB New Talent Singing Awards, in which he won second place.
