During the 2010 Olympics, she almost wasn't able to compete because sports Canada pulled her funding after they stated "that she had not shown the necessary improvement to receive an $18,000 stipend" because of a knee injury suffered in 2007. Kin's Farm Market, a local grocery chain decided to help raise the necessary funds and began to sell reusable bags with Loo’s face on them for a $1 each.
