Kakim Goh détient un baccalauréat en arts visuels spécialisé en peinture et dessin de l'Université Concordia. En tant qu'artiste visuel qui crée des installations interdisciplinaires combinant peinture, vidéo et performances, Kakim expose ses œuvres au Mexique et au Québec depuis 1993, et plus spécifiquement au MAI, au Laboratoire des nouveaux médias OBORO ainsi qu’à la Maison de la culture du Plateau Mont-Royal. Il est le commissaire d'exposition du programme en arts visuels et vice-président du conseil d'administration du Festival Accès Asie, un organisme qui a pour but de promouvoir les arts, les histoires et les cultures d’Asie au Québec et au Canada.

Khadija was born and educated in the town of Amoude, Syria.  She studied Interior Design, receiving a Master’s degree in 1999 from the University of Damascus, Syria. Since 2001 she lives and works in Montreal, Canada. She had a BFA in Studio Arts from Concordia University/ painting & drawing, and completed her MFA/Open Media at the same university in 2012.

Born in Wuhan, raised in Vancouver, and currently living in Montreal, Sam is a student at McGill University pursuing a double major in Biology and English Literature. Along with many friends and helpers, he co-founded Yellow Noise Magazine in response to the dearth of Asian representation in the media. After having struggled against the model-minority myth all throughout high school, he discovered that there were actually many Asian people working on interesting artistic projects and much needed political activism. He decided to create a platform to shine a spotlight on those who are actively engaged in artistic and activist communities. He hopes that through this platform, young artists and activists of Asian descent can not only express themselves but also find role models who look like them and face the same struggles.

Komachi Montréal est une troupe de danse folklorique japonaise spécialisée dans les danses Bon ou Bon Odori (danse pour la fête des morts selon les rites bouddhistes). Ce type de danse est pratiqué partout au Japon; surtout lors des Matsuri (festivals d’été). Komachi Montréal se spécialise dans les danses folkloriques de style Minyō. C’est un style qui exprime la joie de danser, de faire la fête ou se donner du courage pour travailler. Certaines danses sont touchantes tandis que d’autres sont humoristiques. Comme toutes danses folkloriques, les danses japonaises ont été transmises de génération en génération par la tradition orale. Ainsi, de nos jours, chaque ville ou région du Japon possède ses propres danses et chaque groupe de danse (Ren) interprète la danse à sa façon en y mettant sa touche personnelle. De par les enseignements de Mme Kayo Yasuhara, les danseurs apprennent des danses qui se transmettent depuis des siècles. Komachi Montréal tente de présenter des danses provenant des quatre coins du Japon afin de faire découvrir la grande diversité de la culture japonaise à son public.

Multidisciplinary artist Irem Bekter was born in Istanbul, grew up in England and graduated from Elmhurst Ballet School in Camberley, perfected at the Royal Academy of Dance and obtained a Masters degree in theatre from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. In 1984,  

In 2008, arrival in Quebec, she founded the Irem Bekter Quintet which was programmed at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal in 2010, followed by a first album Primero. The group multiplied its stage presence with a tour of over 35 concerts. A grant from CALQ in 2013, allowed her to perfect in Turkish music with Ismail Fencioglu and percussion with Ziya Tabassian (Constantinople).Irem is in the second phase of creation of the show VERTIGE EN 4 TEMPS on tour as of October 9, 2015.

Artiste multidisciplinaire, Irem Bekter est née à Istanbul, a grandi en Angleterre, puis obtient un diplôme de l’École de ballet Elmhurst à Camberley, se perfectionne à l’Académie Royale de danse et obtient une maitrise en Arts dramatiques du W.Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts à Londres. En 1984, elle s’installe en Argentine, où elle découvre la musique argentine et le zapateo, qu’elle étudie. Elle perfectionne sa technique vocale en chant traditionnel et juxtapose voix et danse vers la création. Elle est artiste invitée aux concerts En Familia et Al despertar de Mercedes Sosa.  Elle présente son propre spectacle en tournée argentine. Le journaliste Pablo Gorlero, mentionne Irem Bekter comme l’une des artistes ayant influencé le paysage du théâtre musical en Argentine.  

En 2008, arrivée au Québec, elle fonde le Irem Bekter Quintette qui est de la programmation du Festival de jazz de Montréal 2010, suit un premier album Primero. L’ensemble multiplie ses présences scéniques avec une tournée de plus de 35 concerts. Boursière du CALQ, en 2013, elle perfectionne les musiques turques auprès d’Ismail Fencioğlu et les percussions avec Ziya Tabassian (Constantinople). I grew up in Wuhan, China and spent most of my adult life globetrotting. I hold a BA in English Literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University and MA in Creative and Media Enterprises from University of Warwick (UK). Driven by curiosity and passion, I have worked in many different sectors of the creative industry, including advertising (Ogilvy & Mather), performing arts (Cirque du Soleil), journalism (Case da Abitare, an Italian design and lifestyle magazine) and graphic design. Currently I have a full-time executive job and a photography business that offers me an amazing creative outlet.

Presentation: “Documenting Beauty of the Everyday”

I would like to present my recent “storytelling” photography works that use natural light to document the beauty of the everyday family life, the extraordinary in the ordinary.

I am a Filipino Blues Singer and would love to share my experiences as an Asian in the music industry.

Carolyn Fe has been an active performance artist in Montreal for over 25 years; from contemporary dancer, actress, theatre producer and now her latest project, Carolyn Fe Blues Collective – a Blues band with musicians from all corners of the world.  Aside from being the lead singer/songwriter of the band, she oversees all the business aspects required to keep the band working and self-producing albums. To date two out of the three albums released have garnered industry acknowledgements and awards. The latest being an Achievement Award from the Filipino Community not only in the artistic realm but also as a role model in promoting a positive image of Filipino-Canadians. In all her artistic endeavours, Carolyn Fe combines her business savvy so that she can pay it forward to the causes and events that are close to her heart.  

Janet (Jian) Liu born in north of China, finished art & design education in China and New Media Design/Fine Art education in Canada. In her art work, she captured many beautiful moment of life and abstracted them with mixed media on layered canvas. The influence on her works is from what she is feeling and experiencing, is what she uses to sort out her introspective thoughts.  Her recent project is an abstract mixed media painting series inspired by her journey through and beyond breast cancer. These works explore the shifting emotional landscapes of day to day life with the disease – fear, darkness, joy, hope, faith, and ultimately the desire to live and love.

Janet (Jian) Liu lives and works in Montreal, Canada. Her work has been published and exhibited nationally and internationally, such as 2002/2003 “Chinese Experimental Ink and Wash Exhibition”; 2004 “37th Toronto International Outdoor Art Exhibition”; “2012 3rd China•Cuiheng Cross-strait Chinese Artist Fine Arts Exhibition”.

Janet (Jian) Liu setup the Art Saving Life Foundation since 2008, to assist in the recovery of breast cancer survivors by providing art therapy programs and seminars on achieving self-balance and funding qualified organizations to conduct research.

Shahrzad Arshadi, a Montréal - base multidisciplinary artist and human rights activist, came to Canada as a political refugee on December 24, 1983. In the past two decades, Shahrzad has ventured into different fields of photography, film, sound and performance, enabling her focus on issues of memory, culture and human rights.

Chanho Bang is a director, cinematographer and editor, who was born in Mississippi, and raised in New York, Seoul and Montreal. Chanho is the director of the acclaimed H​ONEST PEOPLE which was nominated at the short film corner, 67th Cannes Film Festival. He is currently developing several film projects through his production company Chivalric Pictures based in Montreal, Quebec. Also, he is co-­directing with J​oseph R. Taylor on a mid-length documentary, A​LGON.​His works reflect his detail oriented personality and his ability to embrace a larger picture. His love for people is also another aspect that makes him enjoy his work.
