==Shahriar Taheri==
Shahriar Taheri is an Iranian - Canadian intellectual and artist who came to Canada as a political refugee in mid 80's. He studied in India and received his master degree in Economics from Bhopal University. Since his arrival in Montreal, he has been deeply involved in the Iranian community by organizing different cultural and political activities. At the end of 80's and beginning of 90's, Shahriar, together with a few of his friends, established different organizations and associations with a focus on Iranian culture and politics, among them the ''Committee for Defending Political Prisoners in Iran", "Iranian Saturday school Dehkhoda for Iranian children to learn Farsi", "Iranians Community Cultural Center", and "Iranian Library NIMA". In his late 40's, Shahriar got attracted to drawing and painting. He has created two different and very interesting collections. The first collection is his drawing with simply black marker on white drawing paper, which is a reminder of beautiful Iranian calligraphy. The second collection is acrylic on canvas, full of colors and shapes inspired by the beautiful province of Gilan near the Caspian Sea in Northern Iran, where Shahriar was born and grew up. Shahriar has been exhibiting his work at Z Gallery in Montreal.
