There she obtained a BA in Psychology at the University of Victoria. She has stayed close to the West coast of BC most of her life β later obtaining an MSW from the University of British Columbia. She worked as a social worker and then for the past 20 years has worked in higher education. She obtained a PhD at the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK. This was followed by Postdoctoral studies at the University of British Columbia at the Centre for Higher Education and Training, Department of Educational Studies. Adrienne is currently the Associate Vice-President for Research, Engagement, and Graduate Studies at the University of the Fraser Valley, Abbotsford, British Columbia. Dr. Chan is currently involved in three research projects: Ministry of Child and Family Development: Review of the Complaints Resolution Process Ministry of Child and Family Development: IndoCanadian Families Project β data base Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada: Social Justice and Universities (a 3 year funded project) '''Awards''' At the June 2008 convocation, Dr. Chan won the 2008 Teaching Excellence award. She is the author of three books, two of them co-edited.
