Adrienne S. Chan was born in Victoria, B.C. There she obtained a BA in Psychology at the University of Victoria. She has stayed close to the West coast of BC most of her life – later obtaining an MSW from the University of British Columbia. She worked as a social worker and then for the past 20 years has worked in higher education. She obtained a PhD at the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK. This was followed by Postdoctoral studies at the University of British Columbia at the Centre for Higher Education and Training, Department of Educational Studies.
