Yellow Noise is a Canadian based online/print platform that seeks to highlight young Asian identifying peoples in the West who push the boundaries of artistic and political expression. Recognizing the diversity of backgrounds encompassed by this label of “Asian”, we seek to open dialogue on what it means to be Asian in Western society today and to honour/acknowledge the multiplicity of perspectives involved. There will be both a focus on maintaining a sense of harmony within the community as well as solidarity with other groups of people of colour. The overarching mission of Yellow Noise is to provide a platform by Asian-identified youth for Asian-identified youth to negotiate the hybridity of identity we experience in a white-dominant society, with a particular focus on the intersection of issues of class, gender, and ability.
